Florida Blue Choice Regional PPO Changes 2025
Florida Blue, one of Florida’s largest Medicare Advantage providers, recently decided to end (or retire) its Blue Medicare Regional PPO plan for the 2025 calendar year.
This decision will affect roughly 18,000 people currently enrolled in that plan in the state of Florida. If you haven’t already, you will receive one of two types of letters in the mail to find out if this change personally impacts you.
- The first letter could be an Annual Notice Of Change (ANOC). This states the changes on your plan for the 2025 year and that the plan will renew automatically.
- If you have the Regional PPO plan, you will most likely receive a non-renewal notice letter in the mail. This will state that the plan you’ve been on all of these years will not automatically renew and will be discontinued for 2025.
If you’re on a different Florida Blue Medicare Advantage plan, you’ll likely just receive a notice of change.
I highly recommend that you check your mail for one of those two letters if you haven’t already received one.
My name is Mark Prip with Policy Guide. I’ve been an independent agent with Florida Blue for 20+ years. Today, I’ll dive straight into the details of how this change impacts you and what you can do to find a new plan.
Florida Blue PPO Changes
As I mentioned before, I’ve been an independent agent with Florida Blue for many years. I have seen firsthand how they can adjust their plans to the nonstop changes that CMS makes every year. This year, Florida Blue decided to retire the Regional PPO plan.
However, they do have two additional PPO plans that are available in most counties.
The difference is that the Regional PPO was available in all counties in Florida – the additional two plans that they have available are offered in many counties, but not 100% of them.
If you want to stay with Florida Blue, you must verify your county to see if one of their other two plans is available.
Right now, our office is receiving an influx of calls from people throughout the state who have Florida Blue and want to remain with Florida Blue as their health insurance provider. We’re helping them navigate the Medicare landscape to find an additional option with Florida Blue.
The good news is that most people have an alternate plan option with Florida Blue. Here are the two best recommendations I can give you if you received the non-renewal notice – and what you can do from this point to find another plan.
Option #1: Find Another Medicare Advantage Plan
If you’ve lost your plan and want to stay with a Medicare Advantage plan, make a list of your medical providers and prescriptions (with the correct dosage and spelling) so that you can enroll in a different plan with Florida Blue.
Option #2: Switch to a Medicare Supplement Plan
Your second option is if you’ve lost your plan (through no fault of your own) and want to switch to a Medicare Supplement plan. You will now have a guaranteed issue right, meaning you will receive a period of time during which you can avoid medical underwriting when applying for a new Medigap plan.
If you have wanted a Supplement plan in the past but have been unable to get one due to medical reasons, you now have this period where you can enroll in a Medicare Supplement (also known as a Medigap) plan.
I would highly encourage you to consider a Medicare Supplement plan. It’s far superior coverage, and it does not work with these same Medicare Advantage changes and rules that we see year in and year out.

Why Choose Medigap?
Medicare Supplement (Medigap) will give you a lot more freedom and flexibility, and you will not have to deal with these reimbursement roller coaster rides like with Medicare Advantage.
